No, that one isn't the real Bella's Lullaby. That's just a song (albeit a gorgeous song!) that some people found shortly after Twilight was released and they thought it sounded a lot like the song is described as. It's called The River Flows In You. So it's sorta the unofficial Bella's Lullaby. The official one for the movie is done by Carter Burwell, and it's okay, but not that great either. It's NOTHING like we all expected. Still pretty, but a lot of people are upset that it's not even close to what we invisioned.
I have the soundtrack and I can send you the song, if you'd like. Just let me know, and I'll send it tonight after I get home from my Grandma's. (could be late, just so ya know).

Aww, I really hoped that was the song! It's just so beautiful. I immediately told my friend and she's also a bit disappointed, but oh well ): It would be really nice if you could send the song, Cat! Thanks in advance!

Okay, I have to admit, I hated Bella's Lullaby when I first listened to it, but when I listened for the second time, it wasn't THAT bad. In fact, I kinda liked it ( I only have listened to it for like 6 or 7 times in a row, lol). Now I don't really know what the role of the song in the book is, except that Edward played it for Bella, so I can't really say if it fits his 'Bella's Lullaby' or not, but as a song itself, it's good. Still, The Rivers Flow in You rocks! lol. Again, thanks, Cathy!

Well, I thought much the same when I first heard it. lol My first reaction was "I don't like it." I didn't hate it, but didn't like it either. It's nothing like I pictured Edward playing it; in the book it's described as having fast -complicated- segments, and then slower ones (at least, I think I'm remembering it right). And as far as the role it plays in the book -Edward plays it for her the one time early on, but then throughout the series he hums it to her often. It is truly a lullaby. For the "official" Bella's Lullaby, I can't picture Edward being able to hum that. *shrugs* Could just be me, but I really can't. It is a great song, and I really enjoy listening to it, but it's not what Edward would have wrote, IMO. :/
Now, I can't wait to hear it in the movie, cuz Robert actually plays it during the scene, and it might sound better when it's strictly the piano piece, and not got the strings in the background. *shrugs* And, according to Catherine, the song will play at different points throughout the movie, so we'll hear it a few times.
I'm so glad you're enjoying it, and you're very welcome!
And I know Chris hasn't pimped out the board here, so I'm gonna do it now. Chris has opened up a new forum for Twilight, and if any of you would like to come check it out, we'd love to have more people. We need to get some posting going! LOL So, come check it out at: z13.invisionfree.com/twilightfans We're not going to be like those scarey Twilight boards. *shudders* OMG they scare me!

*BEEEEEEP* Computer, if you could please get Cathy back for me, that'd be absolutely awesome. Angela is very much wanting to hear what the board mommy thought of the movie, as Angela talked to one of her friends for over a half hour about it, and then she talked to Megs. That was a very interesting and funny conversation, which had me wanting to go see it VERY BADLY. And Cathy, if you're dead, you can't go and see, what I've been told, is the hotness and amzingness that is Rob Pattinson. *grins and hugs*

Just a warning, some things could be considered as spoilers (:
Edited by Cathy: MOVIE SPOILERS AHEAD!!
Okay, so I just got home from watching Twilight; heading straight to the mall after school ended *grins* Yep, Cat, it premiered here yesterday and not 21 Dec!
So.. how to say... as someone who hasn't finished even the first book, the movie was pretty good. I absolutely *loved* Kristen Stewart cos I think she's just so pretty; she looked so different from her usual self, and she made a really great Bella. On the other hand, while I liked Rob, I honestly thought that Bella looked a bit cooler than Edward, which I thought was a bit funny. My friend whom I went with was a huge fan of the series and she said the same thing. That's not a bad thing, just different.
And I really hope they cast Steven Strait as Jacob!!!!
My favorite Cullen has got to be Carlisle! Yeah, I have a thing for older guys, I'll admit it *shrugs*, and one of my fav scenes was the baseball scene (especially since it had Supermassive Blackhole in the background, woo hoo!) and then how they met James. Oh, the part where Bella first visited the Cullens also cracked me up.
Overall, I think it's a good movie and now I'm SO tempted to finish the books. Thank you.
;D

Note from Cathy: This thread will contain talk about the movie from here on out. I've deliberatly NOT posted anything here about the movie, cuz I know some of you haven't seen it yet, and won't for a while. So, if you don't want to be spoiled for the movie, don't read the thread.
YAY I'm so glad it came out sooner than we thought it would! And I'm glad you liked it, even if you didn't love it as much as I did. LOL I've seen it three times now, and will be going back for a fourth viewing soon.
They won't be casting Steven as Jacob, I'm pretty sure they'll stick with Taylor. Though I agree, he'd be a great choice for the older Jacob. I love when people use him in videos.
I LOVED the baseball scene! OMG the music was perfect for it too!! I took my kids to see it, and my son (who's five) loved it, he stood up and cheered when they hit the ball, and then when Carlisle slid in and was safe. LOL Too cute!
You should definitely finish the books! The book is SO much better than the movie. I think you'll enjoy it more.

I'm now gonna sit back and wait till Ashley and Jackson get together cos they're just SO freaking adorable together!!!!!!!! They're *always* together everywhere and seem to feel really comfortable with each other, being affectionate and doing cute stuff. I especially love that MTV Spoiler moment where they kissed I certainly hope they didn't act that way just for the sake of Jalice fan, but oh well! I read somewhere that Jackson had a girlfriend named Rachel Curtis or something, but nope, gonna pretend I didn't read that *grins* and hey, Jackson lived in my country once, that's something ;D I see some icons coming this way, lol

yeah, Ashley and Jackson are adorable together! I've not read about their personal lives, so I have no idea if he's got a gf or not, but I do know there was a blonde on his arm at the premiere..... :/ And I heard a rumor that Kellan and Ashley were dating now, after he broke up with his gf about a month ago. I can't say with 100% certainty, but I do know they're really good friends, and have been seen together a lot lately, and they look AMAZING together! I would love for them to hook up. LOL
And icons.... Yes please!! LOL I'm slowly working on another batch, but I keep getting sidetracked by the damn fics I'm reading (addictive!) and the movie (that I saw for the fifth time last night). One of these days I'll have another batch to post to the LJ.

It's funny that Ashley/Alice seems to get more attention and looked like the most beautiful girl in Twilight. I mean, Rosalie was supposed to be the star, lol.
And NO CAT!! Ashley Jackson! Say no to Ashley Kellan!! Give that poor Jackson a break; he looks like he's in pain all the time! LOL

Okay, I am a virgin to the Twilight craze. I kind of wanted to see the movie, but haven't had the time until now. I had quick question to the fanatics first. To those of you who have seen the movie AND read the books, which should I do first. I was thinking I should read the book first, but I'm not sure. So, what do you recommend?

I won't say I'm a fanatic and I was a few years late too, but I would recommend reading the books first. Though actually watching the movies was what made me want to try reading the books, lol (:

I'm not a fanatic either - looks at sig, maybe a bit *g* - but I read the books first and I personally think there's enough difference between the books and the film, so it doesn't matter either way. Obviously the book has more info and they changed around some things for the movie. Come to think of it - read the book first ! It's fun to try and catch the direct quotes in the film afterwards

Thanks liz and tia. I really wasn't sure what to do first because you know how sometimes when you read a book before you see a movie, the movie usually disappoints. But the movie looks really good, so I'm going to go out and get the book as soon as I can.

I haven't gotten the book yet Cat. Yesterday, my husband and I went to see the movie at the dollar show. I must be getting old because I really didn't care for it. I was so sure I was going to like it, but I didn't. I'm not so sure if I should even read the book now.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like it. Was there anything in particular that put you off of it, or was it pretty much the whole thing? I can say, honestly, that the book is better than the movie (as is always the case), but if the whole thing was unenjoyable then yeah, don't read it. LOL

I just didn't feel the chemistry between Bella and Edward. I'm not sure if it was the characters or the actors that made me feel that way. It didn't help that my husband was laughing through the whole thing. And also, thanks to my sister who is a huge vampire fan, I was thrown off by this different version of vampires.

Post by ~*Cathy*~ on Mar 25, 2009 19:26:43 GMT -5
Ah, gotcha. Well, as a HUGE vampire lover since I was a teenager, I can understand being thrown by the difference. I have to admit that there are a couple of things that Stephenie changed that I just can't stand -glittery skin?! OMG WTF?!?! LMAO But I still love the books, and overlook that silly shit. LOL
The chemistry... I felt it, but maybe that's because I had read the books first, and already knew the story. They rushed the relationship in the movie, and you lose a LOT of good stuff, and I think that after reading the books, you might just see it differently. Plus... there's something a little "off" about Kristen's acting, I'll admit it. But I still love the movie, regardless of it not being the best in the world. LOL

*will randomly tune out what Cat said about Kristen's acting!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
And I will stop myself from a rant <3
But I personally loved the movie. I read the books before hand and I pictured of course Kristen as Bella, and Rob (ew...sorry XD) as Edward. "Rob" is not okay. "Him" as Edward will work.
Now I did think there was loads of chemistry between the two, especially the extended dream sequence of Bella ravishing Edward and pulling him onto her bed!
New Moon is a completely different perspective... and a new director... so hopefully it might be better for those who didn't enjoy the movie "Twilight" though the book is epic!
Also one thing I did not like about the movie is how fast-paced it was. And that they did not put the blood-testing scene where Bella faints and Edward carries her to the nurse's station, and that the meadow was... different. I also really wanted a better 'runaway-bella' scene. I mean Jasper and Alice would have totally known she was leaving. I wanted Bella to escape while Jasper was guarding the bathroom and I wanted a pissed-off Edward realizing they didn't keep Bella safe.
*sigh*
Oh and Bella should have cooked meals... and there should have been more scenes of Eddy up in Bella's room. And the Cullens were totally snapped from this film! Who -cares- about Jessica, Angela, Eric, and Mike? *sigh* We needed more Alice, Jasper, Emmett, and Rosalie, and Rosalie, and Rosalie! -major Em/R fan <3*
Okay I'm done.........

*is trying really hard to ignore what Chris said about Rob*
*glares anyway*
LOL
OMG that dream sequence was frikkin HOTT wasn't it?! *fans self* And then the one where he bites her finger, after she asks if he wants a taste?.... ZOMG! I thought it was totally hot! LOL
The pace of the movie is the biggest thing I remember people bitching about after the movie came out. People who didn't get to read the books first, really didn't get the "feel" of the relationship, and just how long it took them to get to the point where they were in love. They just can't appreciate it until they read the books.
And OMG the stupid humans monopolized way too much of the movie! I could have totally done with less of them, and waaaayyyy more Cullens! EMMETT! & ALICE!! They're totally my faves, and they got hosed man!! Grrrr. LOL
I'm very excited about New Moon, and can't wait for November to get here!!
