I was marathoning through all the seasons of PR this past week in preparation for a new fic And then my sister sat me down and after questioning my sanity LOL she started asking me about my favorite seasons and characters and pairings, and I thought it'd be interesting to know what your favorites are! I mean, clearly TK and SS/MMPR and SPD, but besides those, what seasons rank up? For me, while I'm not busy heralding MMPR as a favorite guilty obsession, I'm pretty much in love with Time Force. Though my love for time travel probably influenced that too much! It was a great season though, with darker themes than most. Plus Jen/Wes is heart-wrenchingly perfect and epic for each other. In Space also makes it high up my list. Surprisingly, while rewatching the entire series, I found Wild Force very enjoyable on the second run (LOL, go figure). Needless to say, DT makes me giggle anytime Tommy comes on the screen, and it brought back such great pangs of nostalgia for old-school PR. So! What are your favorite seasons?

I totally agree with you on Time Force!!! I thought the casting was great and the story lines were interesting... Flawed as they were sometimes (consistency is one thing that bugged me)... But my favourite part was how cute Wes, Lucas and Eric were... I know shallow...

I love MMPR (of course) and since I missed all seasons until Wild Force, I can't really say much about the seasons in between. I really like Ninja Storm. Great cast, story-lines and even the villains are hilarious. Then of course, I don't have to say I like DT, do I? *winks* Last is SPD (:

Definitely MMPR because it's the original and in my opinion the best storylines and characters/relationships. My second favorite is PRiS because I really liked the Andros/Astronema sibling storyline and I thought the entire series was very entertaining and well written!

Having seen good amounts or all of each season, here is how I rank them, not just on how much I enjoyed them, but on the quality of the production being put forth as well (the two don't always coincide in my mind).
Rob: We're going to do these in ASCENDING order. Now, Arnie, since you're retarded, what that means is we're going to start at the bottom and work our way UP to Number One.
Arnie: Rob, I'm going to give you a blood test. Now what that means is I'm going to cut your throat and ask you math questions while you bleed to death.
Sorry. After that little bit from my favorite radio show...on with the list. 16. Overdrive 15. Wild Force 14. Jungle Fury (saved from the very bottom by RJ's awesomeness) 13. Lightspeed Rescue 12. Lost Galaxy 11. Turbo 10. Ninja Storm 9. SPD 8. Zeo 7. Time Force 6. MMPR S3-Post Kim 5. Dino Thunder 4. In Space 3. MMPR S3-Pre Kat 2. MMPR S2 1. MMPR S1
As far as couples go, the only pairings I'm outwardly fond of are Tommy/Kim, Conner/Kira, and Bridge/Z. I can write other couples, but those are the only ones I really care about.

I think other than MMPR and SPD for me it's gotta be Dino Thunder (for obvious reasons), Time Force, Lightspeed and Mystic Force. As far as the other seasons, I don't necessarily like the whole season but have favorite characters from them. IE Mack from OO, Lily Casey and RJ from JF, and Kendrix from LG. I think each season, no matter how bad they were, had good points.

~snip~ Casey from JF ~snip~ In the words of Tommy, in his infinite wisdom, "Aww, man." Casey makes me sad. The first legally retarded Red Ranger.

wk88 be nice. Some of us liked Casey even if he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
For me I choose: MMPR 1, 2 and the first half of 3, SPD, Dino Thunder, Time Force, and the first half of Jungle Fury (cuz that's all I saw of it). I didn't really watch any other seasons, but from certain people's fics, I've definitely got favorite characters/couples from pretty much every other season, and know pretty much what happened in each of them. LOL

Casey might not have been a smart guy, but he had heart, and he grew up near the end of his team. I'll take the JF team over the whimps of Overdrive.

I've only really seen MMPR 1-3 (until Kim left) and DT. I can't seem to bring myself to venture out and try watching a season without an original. If any of you could recommend ONE season for me to watch that's not MMPR, which one would it be? I might actually give it a try. I was thinking of trying SPD to see the whole Sky/Syd relationship, but I'm not sure.

First half SPD is excellent, but things started going downhill (at least for me) during the second half of the season. Like Kim, I'd definitely recommend Time Force. It has my second favorite relationship in PR's history w/Wes and Jen, not to mention Dan Southworth does an incredible job portraying Eric the Quantum Ranger (not a huge fan of the actress that played Katie, but the guys for Lucas and Trip were good as well). You know, the honest truth is that there are more seasons I would recommend than ones I wouldn't, so if you want to keep your sanity and actually enjoy what you're watching, I would recommend you don't watch the following.
Wild Force Mystic Force Operation Overdrive Jungle Fury
Other than that, it's all good for the most part. I mean, seeing as how you've watched S1-3, I would definitely recommend watching Zeo, Turbo, and Space, so you can at least see how the legacy continued/ended. Space saved the series from being cancelled, and the whole ending w/Countdown to Destruction is just...I don't really know how to describe it. It's a quintessential moment in the show's history that every PR fan should watch at least once. Even if you don't want to watch the whole season, at least watch both parts of C2D.
I'm done now.

I forgot to mention Mystic Force in my last post, but I actually enjoyed it a great deal. It didn't quite feel like watching Power Rangers while watching that, for me. Can't tell for sure, but it felt like that. Not a bad thing, I really liked it and Nick/Madison was such a sight (:

I'd say Time Force, definitely. In terms of storytelling, the atmosphere, the mood, and the chemistry between the romantic couple of the season, it ranks up way high for me. I started re-watching PR with Time Force (rather than what a normal person would do and continue with Zeo, lol) and fell in love with the franchise again, if that helps! Jen and Wes are freaking awesome and angsty and after TK they're my favourite PR couple for sure. I really think I like Wild Force for the fact that it housed the best team-up episodes! With both the team-up with the Time Force Rangers as well as, of course, Forever Red. Other than that the Zords were hilarious (in the so bad it's good way) - and I love, love, love Taylor. She's quite possibly my second or third favourite female Ranger of all time; I can't decide between her and Jen

Time Force would probably be the best choice if you were to watch a season that wasn't anything MMPR related, for sure. Everything about it was just so cool, and the time travel aspect of the show was different and it felt like you were actually taking a glance into the future, so to speak. Sure, it had it's flaws, but every season of PR has it's flaws! But yeah, Time Force would be your best bet.

Wow! I guess Time Force it is! Then I'll try SPD. I'm still not ready to watch Zeo (it still kinda hurts). I do want to watch Space, but in order to understand the transition, I guess I have to see Turbo too. Unfortunately, that horrid T:APRM turned me COMPLETELY off of that. Maybe I'll watch it from the point where TJ and the rest took over. Thanks everybody for your suggestions.

Really, the only eps of Turbo you would need to watch are the Passing The Torch (two parter, I believe) and whatever the season finale was called.

Space really does need to be watched in order to understand what is going on. My fave episode of Space is "A Date with Danger"

Oh man...... must be nice to watch the previous seasons, wherever that is. I don't know pretty much about the other seasons, since I only watched the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Zeo, some parts in Turbo, tid bits of Lost Galaxy, and tid bits of Wild Force, and tid bits of Dino Thunder. My interest was totally in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I watched most of Zeo and Turbo. Pretty much lost interest when the original casts were finally gone. I mean outside of the Mighty Morphin, everything else was hard to follow. I don't know what happened, episodes jumping here and there I was confused as to what the hell was going on. Totally out of control, with videos (back then) showing episodes way ahead of the current on tv. I swear this is really sucky thing when nice tv shows are totally ruined when they are brought over being totally popular with hype and everything while the media like CDs or videos trying make money totally become 'SPOILERS'. I think I'm ranting here.... Anyways, MMPR is definitely my favorite.

Looking back, it's just nostalgic seeing how people were dressed back then and how all the zords were pretty much built models. Watching those zords play out just gives that certain feeling, I remember showing them to my little bros, they say they look really fake. I was like, 'Hey, they did good.' Japanese footage or not. Now...... it's mostly computer graphics, sure the whole transformation might seem cooler, but somethings just don't beat old school feeling. Particularly when they showed Jason/Rocky's Red Dragon Thunderzord.

Oh man...... must be nice to watch the previous seasons, wherever that is. YouTube, my friend, YouTube. Every single episode that has ever aired is on the site. Some might not be the best quality, but it does the trick if you don't want to download the episodes themselves. Certain seasons have torrents available to DL (I have MMPR-Space + DT on my computer), and if I'm not mistaken, Star Points Rangercast has all the episodes available for DL as well.
