Hi All!
I am writing a fanfic and I ran into a bit of a problem with the dialogue. One of the characters is a preteen and I just can't seem to get the voice right. I need to add new language to make it sound right. So, if anyone has information on "new words" from the past 2-3 years let me know!
New language can be slang, word blends (like Gwen Patrow's "frenemy"), new made up words that are being used in schools, acronyms (like *.I.T.C.H which stands for beauty in total control of herself), or even compounds. Something that is convincing for a preteen to know and use. I need a few of these, just to make the child sound right.
Thank you in advance for your help!

I recommend turning on Nickelodeon or ABC Family or some other cable channel that shows teen TV shows. Watch an episode or two of iCarly or, depending on the age range, Gossip Girl or One Tree Hill. If your brain can stand it, you'll probably be able to pick up the terminology and get into the right mindset.
