I thinking.. how every season of power ranger has different amount of team members .. take ninja storm they started off wit three rangers and wound up with 6 but the end of the series, and dino thunder they started with 3 and ended wit four rangers. but with the original series, they always had 5 or 6 rangers. and it got me thinking about how with a smaller team the story line always seemed to better then with a season with a larger team.
what do you guys think?

Well, firstly, no team has ever ended with less than 5 Rangers. Every season has three core colors (red, yellow, blue) and at least two more from the "other" color spectrum (typically green, black, pink, and white). Dino Thunder had the core three, plus the near immediate appearance of Black, followed by evil-turned-good White. Seasons that start off with three Rangers (RPM, NS, DT, etc) simply end up introducing more additional Rangers later on.
That being said, yes, smaller teams are "better" simply because they are always easier to write. Look what happened in a season like SPD with 97 freaking Rangers. You end up getting a ball of light for DekaBreak/Omega Ranger. Worst idea in the history of PR prior to Casey.
Still, most of the teams hover right around 5-7 members, including official Rangers and Ranger-like allies such as Magna Defender and the Solaris Knight. The only teams to finish with more than 7 thus far were SPD, Jungle Fury, and Mystic Force, and we all saw how those turned out.

Smaller numbers naturally is easier to be handled, you're definitely right about that.
The chance for focus and development for those rangers are easier, have too many of them only leads to chaos. Having balance in between the characters, we can't have all of them out in one time. There's always a focus to at least 3 out of the 6 of the characters in one episode. Switching in turns between those and the 'focused characters' of the week, is easier and obviously makes the show better.
While some always appearing more than others.
97 freakin Rangers? That definitely falls in 'Too much of anything isn't a good thing.'
