Okay, I was thinking that some of you vidders out there might be willing to share little pearls of wisdom with those of us who might be wanting to give vid making a try. I've wanted to for years but just never really did cuz I have NO clue where to even start.
So.... if any of you are willing to share tips with us, post them in this board. You can post them as replies to this thread, or create your own thread, whichever you're more comfortable with.
Maybe we can get more people creating and sharing their vids this way.

Absolutely =) You first need a program that's better than Windows Movie Maker. That is very amateur and it limits you to what you can actually do. But if that's all you do have, you can do some things, you just won't be able to make the best video that you want to. I would recommend Flash (one of the best video editing programs out there) Adobe After Effects, iMovie, and Sony Vegas. I love making videos, but they are so time consuming that I rarely do them... but depending on what you want, you'll have two elements. Audio and Video. If you want a trailer, than you'll need voice overs and possible sound effects. Most 'good' video programs have multiple layers like Photoshop. You can blur clips, you can over lap them to have cross overs (like 'dream effects') and you can even manipulate clips of two different scenes to make them seem like they are together. For instance a clip of JDF from Fall Guy and a clip of AJJ from one of her movies. There are ways you can edit the color, turn it black and white, increase the contrast and brightness, add transitions, fades, etc. Is there anything specific that you'd like to know

Well, like I said, I know nothing about the process, so I was thinking just any tips you guys might have. Like, do's and don'ts of vid making. Maybe if you've found an easier way to do certain things, like transitions from one clip to another, or something. Just basically anything that you guys might think would be helpful for us beginners to know. *shrugs*

Call Me Old School But I Like Using WMM (windows movie maker), it just works better for me.. and besides theirs 'add on' you can download to do the same thing a flash program can do... but thats just me..
anyways..
there are 2 main things i do when i make my videos
One... is sticking to the song i choose and making sure that the clips i use go well with the song of choice.
cuz personal i don't like watching videos that have an awesome song, but the clips have nothing to do with the music.. it just makes it look a mess to me.. (but that's just my opinion)
Two.. try to be original, don't be making a video that is like something you saw on youtube or any other video site... make it your own. for ex. make up your own storyline
i hope that helps...

No offense, but no to the PM's. If people have questions they should ask them here (in this thread or in a new one -either way's fine), and they should be answered here. The whole idea is for any new vidders to get the tips, not just one person.
And please guys, don't wait for people to ask questions. If you have any suggestions, please go ahead and post them. Some people might not even know the right questions to ask, so really, ANYthing you can suggest would be a great help.

I can't make videos, but when I did have to make one for my school assignments, I used Adobe Premiere Pro and Ulead.
Till this day I still can't really make them, lol, it's a bit confusing. The one thing sucks is waiting for the rendering cos sometimes it can take almost an hour. I decided to sleep while waiting once only to wake up and find it FAILED.
So yeah, I'll just stick to make artwork, lol.
