I never really thought I would say this... but right now I ******* hate art!!! It's finals week (well sorta, because half my finals are this week, then the other half are next week). Well anyway... I've been working on a Webzine for my school with a group of friends in my journalism class. Well my digital camera was dead and I couldn't upload the pictures I had of drawings, paintings, etc. So the only thing I could do was upload my graphic design work. Well my Art instructor is -big- anti graphic design. He told me when I got to class that I should be 'fired' because I am bad representation for art, that I give it a bad name. He's a firm believer that anyone can do graphic design, with no talent needed. Well I wanted to tell him that -anyone- can draw, practice makes perfect!! *sigh* He has short-bald-man syndrome. No offense to any man here that may be short, or bald. He is self-proclaimed as "Hitler". That's what he tells us everyday in class. Well I'm only going to get about half of the last 4 assignments that we have done, so I'll be lucky to pass this bastard's class. If not, I'll have to take it during the summer in 8 weeks, with the same teacher. If I do not fail, I promise pretties >D Anyway... hope everyone is doing okay. I miss coming here . Oh and the internet in my dorm has been out for 3 weeks, finally got it back. Can't even check email like I should be except on my blackberry. Cya people

That sucks that your camera died, I bet you had alot of amazing pictures on your camera. Your teacher better giving you a good grade for all teh hard work you did. It is not your fault the camera died that is just technology.
good luck on your finals I have mine this week as well

I told you, go talk to the dean *winks* And yeah, I'd like to see Hitler pull off the graphics you and liz do around here....cause let me tell you, it takes a lot of concentration and time and a good eye for color and positioning and just about everything else to pull off something that looks professional. Oh, and remind him, people make BIG BUCKS for doing art the way you do - ends up in Magazine Ads, on billboards, on tv, on the internet.....just because it's not "traditional" doesn't mean it's not good.

Kim, I love you <3 <3
I wish you were at my school.
I dropped his class, and honestly I never felt so much weight get off of my shoulders. I talked to the advisor, and a group of parents (including my mother, who is about to slap a bitch) are all getting together with the Dean and his job is basically gone. He even discussed personal information about the school with us. He has an MFA (which is basically the highest form that you can get in Art) and the college only pays him for 30 college credit hours when he has 70. He wasn't suppose to share that information with -anyone-....... ahhh... as WK's famous writing would say. Karma is a bitch <3

Hi Chris, long time no see *waves* As a design student myself I guess I know how it feels. Most of my teachers, especially they whose backgrounds are pure art / fine art don't appreciate digital graphics so much. Almost the same as your Hitler, they think everyone could do digital graphics but doing things manually are much tougher (They should have a word with my uncle who can't even text message, let alone turning on the PC). Now I don't say that I whole-heartedly disagree with them, because making something so simple as say, icons, definitely needs lots of hard work, and as Kim said, concentration, time and good eye. However though, I do think that making art digitally makes it faster and sometimes easier, though not necessarily better. My friends and I have been in your position before. Like should I do things they way I love it although it may cause me getting a C or should I just follow what my teachers like and get a better score? At the end I decided to do a little bit of both. He likes manual stuff then perhaps you could do something manually and touch it up digitally. So it's still an artwork that he likes and you like and still totally you. Do I make any sense? lol. But I read that you dropped his class, lol. I'm sure you did it cos you thought it's best for you so I'm happy for you ;D I can't even tell you for sure which I like better, digital or manual graphic. When I got to make a symmetry composition for my typography class using poster paint back in the first semester I was ready to kick someone and think how wonderful it would be to do stuff using any kind of Adobe. Last month I had to make a 12 month calendar using InDesign and believe it or not, I miss those poster paint days, lol. Things seem to be much simpler. But oh well, Liz is never satisfied Good luck with the projects! May the Power Protect You (:
