Yeah, but Overdrive and Jungle Fury were supposed to be the last seasons too. Heck, this season was supposed to be animated. The truth is that it ain't over until Disney says it's over. PRiS was supposed to be the last season as well, but it was so popular we got another 10+ years as a result. If RPM just blows itself out of the water then Disney may think twice about canceling the show. Either way, PR is never going to go away for good. Something that has been that popular for that long never dies permanently. It may go away for awhile, but it will eventually come back, and probably better than before (I.e., Transformers). 90's nostalgia is already beginning a slow creep, so whether or not PR stays is really market-driven. Disney's not stupid; if there's a fair market that wants PR, Disney's going to give them PR.

If the new season is only going to be on, on saturadays, I am not sure if it is going to get many ratings. and it to me it doesnt sound like disney is has the rights to pr anymore. If this the final season like they say it is going to be then it should go out with a bang and bring back the originals *coughs* tommy and kim *coughs* Almost every year I hear this season is going to be the last. I believe until it actually happens. I think these last few seasons happen because Jason David Frank was brought back for DT. I think the show should have stayed on the toondisney channel especially for the whole Disney X D stuff. PR fits into the category of shows they are showing. Why put it on ABC Kids Saturdays at Noon. that is a horrible time slot.? How many people does Disney think are going to watch at that time? I know I wont be able too, I will be at work. They probably put it at the time to get low ratings so they can end the show. I agree PR is never going to go away for good. The people who grew up in the 90's probably still watch the show (like me) and now when I go out shopping i see little kids wearing PR shirts. they wont even know how the show began. Maybe parents can call Disney and say, "my child is not eating because PR is no longer on tv"

ABC Kids is the perfect place for PR this season because it's the only show on that network getting first run episodes. Everything else on ABC Kids except PR is reruns. Not only that, but PR being shown EXCLUSIVELY on ABC Kids, not even reruns on any of Disney's subsidiary networks. In principal it may seem like Disney is narrowing PR's market and making it harder to watch the show, but the simple fact is that the same people that were going to watch PR on XD are still going to watch it on ABC Kids. By having PR exclusively on ABC Kids it makes the whole network more profitable.

*nods* I know, I remember the rumors about JF and OO being the last, but I had never seen an actual article about it where one of the members of the crew said they weren't. I'm hoping Disney sees that it's something we all want around for a long, long time. And i agree, all the episodes on ABC Kids but PR are Reruns *looks at That's So Raven playing in the background* You're gonna laugh, but my mom suggested we start a letter writing campaign to keep PR on the air. I don't know if that would work, but you never know. And, like with WF, you never know if another network is going to pick up the series after this season or not. WF was the last Saban/Fox season then Disney started with NS.

One glaring sign in the article is the fact it says this guy has been voicing the General Crunch character for the last three years. You know, I must have missed him in OO and MF. If you read closely, you'll also see that the article is not about the end of PR, but about all the job losses it's causing in Kiwi-ville. There's nothing to say that PR won't find a home elsewhere outside New Zealand, maybe even Canada (I can deal with "aboot" instead of "about" every once in awhile, but dammit I'm getting sick of the Kiwi actors who can't hide their accents worth a crap).
To be honest, even if this is the last season of PR for awhile, I think it's time. The show's just not as popular as it once was (though I'm still hoping RPM can change that), but if this is the end for now then I'm okay with that. PR has had a long, great run, even if many of the later seasons have been less than stellar. Really, the show just needs to go away for awhile, people need to miss it so that when it eventually comes back (and believe me, it WILL come back), it will be bigger than before.

Is it possible to make a petition to keep the show on the air? I think that if the show is ending the they need to start releasing the series on dvd here in the US

Haha, I for one would love DVDs of the first three seasons where the resolution is nice and not grainy so that we can make pretty graphics out of it...

I hope they do release the original series in here in the US because Mighty Morphin is what started it all

There were quite a few times during SPD that his Canadian accent sounded through. But like I said, I definitely prefer that to the NZ/Kiwi accent. With some of the recent PR actors it's like they didn't even try to hide it lol. As far as PR being cancelled goes, Bandai (the peeps who make PR toys) just put out a press release saying they were making toys to coincide with the production of an 18th season. Granted, it's Bandai and not Disney, but it seems like there's a glimmer of hope that PR might not be getting the boot after all.

The NZ/Kiwi accents irritate me, some of the actors don't bother to cover it up. I'll take a Canadian accent (seeing as I'm a Canadian as well) over the Kiwi accent any day. As for Bandai putting out that statement, maybe it's the truth, but who knows at this rate. I guess we'll all just have to find out when RPM ends, huh?

Maybe Disney's finally taking PR animated like the rumor was a year or two ago, and what Sally said in the article is true, they're just not shooting a live action version anymore.
And hey, the accents aren't that bad, honestly. Power Rangers has always been about diversity, so not every Power Ranger is gonna have American decent. I think it's wonderful to see the differences, and to hear them. And you also have to give the actors a break, it's not easy taming those thick accents so that other people who don't normally hear language from your part of the world can understand what you're saying.
Besides, no picking on my Chris *winks* As I recall, there were a few times in the beginning of MMPR where we got accents from the originals - Amy's New England roots, Thuy's Asian roots, Walter's Detroit roots (and i can say that cause I live in Detroit), at least that I remember.
We should be concentrating on their acting, not their accents.

I agree. I like hearing other people's accents but their acting is what is what matters. Austin St. John is a little bit of everything and in a few eps of MMPR and in Zeo you can hear some sort of accent. (or that could be just me, watch the end of the PRZ ep when Jason returns).
I like that every ranger is different that is what makes the show unique

We should be concentrating on their acting, not their accents. But hiding the accents is part of the acting itself. The fact of the matter is that PR, even though it's filmed in New Zealand, is always set in an American town. Now, are there times when outsiders come in? Certainly: Kat, Xander, and Flynn are all examples of this, but the others are all supposed to be from the States. I'm not opposed to different AMERICAN accents, like a character from the South or New York or something like that, but consistently hearing Kiwi accents on a show that is supposed to be centered around Americans is just plain bad. I don't expect perfection (it's PR, after all) but there have been too many actors in recent memory who just flat out sucked at hiding their accents. Thankfully, whoever did the casting this year either got really lucky, or is damn good at their job. Aside from a few minor slipups here and there, and Ziggy a few times in "Go For The Green," the accents have pretty much been spot on. Plus Flynn's got the whole Scottish thing going on, which is just uber-awesome in my opinion.
