Well guys and gals, it seems we're back to Race Cars and Animal Spirits *snickers* *SPOILER ALERT*It's confirmed that March 7 on ABC will be the premiere or Power Rangers: RPM, the next live action incarnation of our favorite show. As it stands we're getting a Red Eagle Ranger, Blue Lion Ranger, Black Wolf Ranger, Green Shark Ranger and a Yellow Bear Ranger. Again, we'll only have one female Ranger, Yellow *grumbles about another season without a Pink* I figured I'd share this with you. Summary: In the near future, the mysterious and sinister Venjix Computer Network is attempting to conquer and lay ruin to the entire planet. Mankind has retreated into environmentally-shielded domed cities to protect against the pollution and machines unleashed by Venjix. In the shining city of Corinth, an elite force of Rangers must learn to drive and operate an arsenal of radically advanced biotech vehicles in order to battle the attacking machine army bent on world domination. To that end, Ranger Cast has a thread up about the actors, so I went to sites and snagged pictures for everyone to see. Can I just say - WE'RE ALL GETTING EYE CANDY!!!! HOT DAMN!!! Enjoy Ari Boyland - Flynn - Blue Lion Ranger Dan Ewing - Dillon - Black Wolf Ranger Eka Darville - Scott - Red Eagle Ranger

RPM stands for Racing Performance Machines. As for the Black Ranger, if you've ever seen the Amy Pearson video "Don't Miss You" he's the lead guy in it.

Kim, if it makes you feel any better Go-on Silver is a girl. IIRC, this is the first time we've gotten a female extra Ranger (I don't count Kat and Udonna, since Kat was a one-time deal and Udonna was there from the start), so that should be interesting.
Now, getting back to RPM in general, this is the first time I've been excited for a new season of PR since SPD. PR has never needed to recycle names before, so the use of "Venjix" leads me to believe that this computer system will in some way be tied into the Machine Empire general from Forever Red (perhaps his body was occupied by this sentient computer program, then fled for a new host once the body was destroyed?). And even though it only happened as a result of the corresponding Sentai, I can't help but think that the RPM generals look kind of like upgraded Cogs. Plus, like I said in another thread, the producer was fired mid-season for making the show "too dark." If nothing else, the first half should be worth watching, if for no other reason than to see what Disney's powers that be define as too dark. Overall, the trailer looks good and I'm excited to see where things go from here. I'll reserve judgment on the cast until I've seen a few episodes, as I've never heard of any of them before now.

March 7th
I say we write an angry letter to disney and tell them to gives us a pink ranger, or an evil pink ranger. I am tired of only seeing red, yellow, green, blue, black/white rangers. Girls watch the show too

Girls watch the show too Lol, unfortunately it's not Disney's choice. If there's no pink ranger in the sentai series, there's no pink in Power Rangers. But it's only been a year since there was a Pink, right? Didn't OO have a Pink, and MF too? The only colors that have appeared in every season are red, blue, and yellow, so it seems like the Japanese people try to rotate some of the secondary colors every few seasons.

JPS - I heard March 7th, but I could be wrong, for the start of the show.
Nfty07 - Because the show is based off Sentai, there isn't always a pink ranger. I don't like it either, since I love the Pink Rangers, but that's just how things are. If they ever got off their butts and did something completely original I think we'd all have heart attacks (MMPR the movie not withstanding since that was all one of a kind).

I haven't watched pr since Kim left, although I did watch prdt on rerun about three years after it first aired. I might check this new season out. Besides Kim and WK, is anyone else going to watch it?

If you go over to www.rangercast.com and sign up for the board, there's usually someone who encodes the episodes, that's how I kept up with Jungle Fury after our cable was shut off. And they're ususally MQ the night of the airing and HQ the day after or there abouts.

I just don't go there very often because the people who run it blatantly used the name "Rangercast," taking it once the Rangercast podcast had already steamrolled itself into the position of biggest PR podcast out there to date. They pretty much capitalized on the success of the Rangercast podcast by using a name they didn't come up with. In this fandom, nothing angers me more than a blatant lack of originality (or stealing another fan's concept/idea) in fan-created works

Now see, that I didn't know. I don't post over there very much anyways, I find that outside of PC, most of the message boards allow absolute IDIOTS to run free (which would be why I rarely visit Rangerboard now as well) but I do find that Star Points Ranger Cast has some great interviews with the cast members, which besides the episode encodes, is the only reason I pop over there.

Rangerboard's actually not as bad as it used to be. The mods have gotten a lot better about enforcing things, and they're nowhere near the A-holes they used to be towards the general public. Nine times out of ten, any major news to the series hits Rangerboard first, which is primarily why I visit the site. It really is a good source of information, even if you just lurk and never post. Some (okay, MOST) of the threads are random and pointless, but a good thread on Rangerboard is so good you find yourself constantly checking and posting over and over again. We've had some great discussions that really delve deep into the undertones of the show, things that were expressed but never explicitly stated on-screen (relationships between people, why certain characters did certain things or behaved certain ways). I know I sound like I'm trying to pimp Rangerboard out, but I swear I'm not lol. But I've had the pleasure of conversing with some of the fandom's most noted fans (Chris Funaro, Joe Rovang, etc), and when you can actually have a detailed, intelligent conversation with someone who cares just as much about the show as you, that's enough to make all of RB's BS worth putting up with. I'm gonna go now. Have to wipe the brown off my nose after having it firmly attached to Rangerboard's hindquarters.

Okay so I stumbled across the premier on YT and I have to admit I was kinda impressed. Considering this is PR and story lines aren't exactly the most thought provoking, they did an admirable job. There is a cheesiness factor but I'll let it slide because damn, between the blue ranger's awesome accent and the gorgeousness of the black ranger, I'm in fan girl heaven If I don't get murdered by my school work, I might have to watch the rest of the episodes Even if its strictly for the eye candy ;D Yes, I'm shallow, sue me.

And the Yellow's a damn kickass female Ranger too! I'm still very, very impressed with the season (and still holding out for Venjix to be THAT Venjix, yeees. Or fanwank works too!) in terms of storylines and pacing, and the acting and even the cinematography. Which all sounds like oxymoron statements when used on a PR season, but seriously it's top-notch. I recommend that you continue watching the rest of the episodes! ETA: Ooh, reading back the messages in this thread about how ABC thought the first part of the season was too dark for kids. I guess I can see it, with all the deaths and the apocalypse of the world being conquered by a virus, and (spoiler!) that for two episodes in a row there were REAL deaths. Scott's brother and Summer's caretaker, both looking pretty permanent and kind of grittier than it's ever been in PR (besides Wild Force and Cole's parents getting killed, I think). And there's a lot of innuendo! And for once, a proper love triangle (Scott-Summer-Dillon) and actual screentime developing the relationships between the team members.

You guys forgot the most important part of all.
Ziggy.
Seriously, he's easily the best "comic relief" character that PR has ever had. Yes, EVER. He's that damn funny. It took maybe 3 episodes for Ziggy to launch himself into my Top 5 Rangers. Watching him never gets old.
