Okay well she isn't really my new wife, but I decided to talk about my latest obsession.
And there are actually two gorgeous women that make up this obsession.
And that obsession is.... t.A.T.u.
*note: Please don't read if you hate them...*
I won't say that I'm against their beginning pseudo-lesbian image, because in fact I like that about them, but this is more about their music and how they have become my obsession.
t.A.T.u. / taty means "Eta devushka lyubit tu devushku" or in English, "this girl loves that girl".
First I'll list a few facts for the ones that don't know of them. They are a Russian/English Electronica band mixed with the two genres of Pop/Pop-Rock. They started out when they were 13/14 and I think even before that when their manager started working with them. Before though they were together in the band called Neposedi.
Yulia Volkova is the fierce brunette with the deeper and more russian accented voice. She has a rough quality about her voice but it comes out almost lustful and amazing. She used to be the higher of the 2, but she had a vocal cyst, and she strained it for over a year wanting to hold out for her band but since she's gotten it removed and had surgery, it's made her voice deeper.
Lena Katina is the fiery red head with the pale complexion and she has a higher voice. Her accent isn't as dominant but that's probably because she has been learning English since she was a little girl. Lena is also older than Yulia.
Their manager had them pose as if they were a couple, but they denied those claims later on before the release of their sophomore album, "Dangerous and Moving."
They love everyone and see every kind of love as love. I think that's quoted right from an interview with Lena.
But now to why I love them.
When I first heard of them, I thought their song All The Things She Said was good, but it never grabbed my attention. My friend Julia actually got me into them my Senior Year of High School. I just started listening to some of their songs because she wanted me to make her a C.D. and they sort of became an obsession of mine. Their voices blend together well, but they are each distinctive on their own to not seem like the same voice. I personally think that Yulia Volkova (brunette) is much more beautiful than Lena but that's just my personal taste.
They have something about them when they perform too. I love fully live performances, and ones that they use play-back. But they bring a lot of energy to the stage.
Their first album has a lot of great songs, and I love both the English and Russian versions.
My favorite songs: I cannot choose just a list.. their entire album is amazing.
Their 2nd album gets into more issues like teen prostitution (All About Us video) and more about love and issues they are into.
I've used them as inspirations for my fanfictions and a lot of my art, including the ones for Power Rangers.
Aside from them just as the band, and besides Lena, I absolutely love Yulia. Everything about her... *ends my silly short rant..*
So does anyone else share even an ounce of the liking of t.A.T.u.?
