PR Fanfic Facts for Writers

Hey guys. Boring afternoon has led me here, my new fav place on the net:) Thanks Cat.

Anyway, one of my biggest pet peeves is writers who screw up the PR timeline in terms of when characters became Rangers or lost their powers or left the show, ect. So in this thread I'm going to toss some general PR facts and dates and if anyone wants to add to it, or add different PR shows facts that's cool. That way when people want to write PR fic they can come here and find some facts. So here we go:

Day of the Dumpster
Airdate: 08/28/93

PR debuts as Jason, Trini, Zack, Kim, and Billy recieve their power coins. I would say all are between 15 and 16 years old.

Switching Places
Airdate: 10/04/93

This isn't really a huge moment in PR history, but its the ep Billy and Kim switched bodies and were in each others. If you're ever in need of a funny reference use this ep. I just think its cool.

12: Happy Birthday Zack (09/16/93)

Canon, this is Zack's birthday.

17: Green With Evil, Part 1 - Out of Control (10/05/93)

First appearance of Tommy - becomes the Green Ranger - TK begins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

21: Green With Evil, Part 5 - Breaking the Spell (10/09/93)

Tommy officially joins the team.

35: THE GREEN CANDLE PART II (11/18/93)

Tommy loses his powers for the first time. He also kisses Kim for the very first time. TK'ers around the world orgasm simulatiously!

50: RETURN OF AN OLD FRIEND PART II (3/1/94)

Kim's parents divorce. Tommy returns and regains his powers on a limited basis. At the end Kim introduces her parents to Tommy.

63: THE MUTINY PART III (8/5/94)

Season 2 of PR begins, think start of softmore year of high school. Tommy's powers are in really bad shape here, First appearance of Lord Zedd and he begins focusing on destroying Tommy. Also, at the end of the ep ther's a cute scene where Tommy rides on the back of Kim's ATV. so Kim was riding Tommy on this day and its canon dammit!

71: THE SONG OF GUITARDO (9/26/94)

Kim co-writes a song with Zack for Tommy and its the first time we see her love of music, singing and writing songs become canon.

73: GREEN NO MORE PART II (9/28/94)

Tommy loses his Green Ranger powers for the second and last time.


78: WHITE LIGHT PART II (10/18/94)

Tommy returns and becomes the White Ranger and leader of the team. He calls Kim "Beautiful" for the first and only time, but the trend begins here. Kim faints upon seeing Tommy, and then is overjoyed that he's back. So are we cause so help me God if they paired her with Jason I would of.... .... ... ... with a rusty spoon up Haim Saban's ... ... .... with a walking cane and jump rope..... ... .. ... ... Kim digging a dictch with Terra hiding the body in the trunk of her.... *this post edited by Cathy for content*

79: TWO FOR ONE (10/24/94)

Okay, this is more of my personal opinion than canon, but for me it seems that TK are officially a couple here. Eveyrone knows it, and they spend the day together. While a case can be made for TK being official sooner, I just think when he came back this time they had "The Talk" and became official.

82: THE NINJA ENCOUNTER PART I (11/2/94)

First appearance of Aisha, Rocky, and Adam.

88: THE POWER TRANSFER PART II (11/9/94)

Jason, Trini and Zack leave for Cambodia to work the coca leaves farms for the Mediheme Drug Cartel, but tell everyone they are going overseas to the Peace Conference. Adam, Aisha, and Rocky officially become Power Rangers. The worst stand-in actors of all time are featured as the real actors weren't available.

103: THE WEDDING PART III (2/15/95)

Rita Repulsa returns.

106: RETURN OF THE GREEN RANGER PART III (2/22/95)

A great three part PR series concludes with the White Ranger and Green Ranger battling, and then Tommy leaving his clone in the past apperantly powerless. So writers, there is a living, breathing Tommy clone in what looks like the 1800's Angel Grove.

111: WILD WEST RANGERS PART II (5/9/95)

Kim's journey into the past concludes as she met descendents of her friends and even Tommy. We also learn in a canon sense that Zordon and Alpha have been on Earth at least 100 hundred years as she goes to him in the past for help. At the end with see a descendent of Kim catching sight of Tommy's for the first time.

Power Rangers The Movie June 30 1995

Rangers movie, first appearance of Ivan Ooze and Dulcia - Ranger's get Ninja Powers. Zordon almost dies.

115: A FRIEND IN NEED PART III (9/9/95)

Power Rangers season 3 opens - First appearance of the short lived character Masked Rider - considered junior year for Rangers.

120: A BRUSH WITH DESTINY (9/18/95)

Canon, Kim's mom moves to Paris with boyfriend/fiance, Kim moves in with Aisha.

129: A RANGER CATASTROPHE PART II (10/17/95)

First appearance of Katherine Hillard. who is currently under a evil spell.

132: CHANGING OF THE ZORDS PART III (11/2/95)

Katherine's spell is broken and returns the power coin she stole from Kim, who almost died from the seperation.

136: A DIFFERENT SHADE OF PINK PART III (11/8/95)

Kimberly leaves for Florida to compete in the Pan Global Games - she is still dating Tommy when she leaves, Kat officially becomes the Pink Ranger.

142: MASTER VILE AND THE METALLIC ARMOR PART III (11/22/95)

First appearance of Master Vile and Shawn's vodka jug as quality of show begins to decline. Canon for Shawn to need shots of liqour to get through boring epsiodes.

145: I'M DREAMING OF A WHITE RANGER (12/23/95)

Okay, this is canon and it takes places after Kat was introduced. Yes, they filmed this before AJJ left, but it was shown on the date above. I guess you can fanwink that Kat was out of town while Kim was visiting. Second onscreen TK lip lock and the last time any of us TK'ers would see that magical chemistry.

147: ALIEN RANGERS OF AQUITAR PART II (2/5/96)

First appearance of Alien Rangers and mention of Aquitar.

155: HOGDAY AFTERNOON PART II (2/17/96)

Hunt for the Zeo crystal begins/concludes as the Command Center is presumably destroyed. Aisha leaves the show for Africa to become a vet despite having not finished high school, talked to her parents, obtained a Visa, knows the language or anything at all that makes sense *thanks Terra for passing him the beer*

157: A ZEO BEGINNING, PART II (4/23/96)

Senior year begins. Tanya officially joins team as as the Zeo Rangers begin. The Machine Empire is introduced and the fans begin groaning as the cheessiness begins to overwhelm us all.

158: THE SHOOTING STAR (4/24/96)

Tanya has a boyfriend named Shawn - they chose that name do to Shawn in Ancient Times meaning "Possessor of amazing penile gland and skills of pleasing women" Yeah, and that's canon!

165: GRADUATION BLUES (5/4/96)

Billy is able to graduate high school early and leaves for Aquitar to help a friend. Few notice.... kidding:)

169: MR. BILLY'S WILD RIDE (5/11/96)

Billy is almost killed in his starship on the way back to Earth, but is saved.

170: THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SNOW BUSINESS, PART I (5/13/96)

Sigh.... this is the ep Tommy recieves the infamous letter and is the official canon date for TK breaking up. The rest of the three part series is forgettable, but we see Katherine's feelings for Tommy have grown deeply and they share at dance at the end of the ep.

This site has quickly become my favorite site, thanks to you, Cathy, Terra, and Kim. It's refreshing to know that I'm not the only one obsessed with TK. I thought I was alone. THANKS!

173: INNER SPIRIT (5/16/96)

Sam Truheart's first full appearance after leading Tommy through some sort of spiritual journey to find his zeo crystal. I have seen as many Sam Truheart appearances in fanfics as I've seen "We Love George Bush" T-shirts in Pakistan or Iran. Nonetheless, he's in this ep.

175: FOUND AND LOST (5/20/96)

First full appearance and introduction to Tommy's brother David. How and why isn't answered in this ep as it makes about as much sense as holding a AA meeting at a bar or a Weight Watchers meeting at a Hostess factory.

188: A GOLDEN HOMECOMING (10/4/96)

Since the Gold Ranger powers won't work for Billy, Jason is called home to retake the powers. He's still capable and strong, and seemingly a bit thicker around the waist, but we love him anyway. He's the new Gold Ranger. And he has a dingy trench coat.

192: THE LORE OF AURIC (10/25/96)

Apperantly Tanya's parents have been missing for some time and who knows how or where she lives after school, in addition to her ultra fast absorbtion of all things American after being raised since birth in Africa. Anyway, her parents are found here.

197: KING FOR A DAY, PART II (11/8/96)

Tommy, after having been kidnapped and turned evil is named the new King of the Machine Empire. Like Michael Jackson, he tells the Rangers to "Beat It" cause he's "Bad", but since they aren't little boys Tommy doesn't invite them to stay at his house, He insteads tries to kill them all until Katherine gets through to him. This, and its painful to say, an ep that nshows IMHO that at this time Tommy did love Kat. Not calling it soulmates or forever type, just that I do believe he loved Kat and around this tiem period it was real.


198: A BRIEF MYSTERY OF TIME (11/11/96)

Due to Tommy torture at the hands of Prince Sprokett in the ep above, Tommy's sensitive to time travel and things associated with it. Tht's cacon, proved by this ep as he relives a day over and over ala a ep of Star Trek. Jason and Emily are pretty tight around this time as well, seemingly dating for a few months now.

201: RANGERS OF TWO WORLDS, PART I (11/20/96)

Due to a side effect from a machine he created, Billy develops a rapid aging disease. Its called "Contract-up-itis" and it means he's gonna be gone soon.

204: GOOD AS GOLD (11/23/96)

Jason loses his Gold Ranger powers, and quietly contracts "Contract-up-itis" for the second time as he doesn't even get a farewell ep.

205: A SEASON TO REMEMBER (11/27/96)

Alas, we come to the most vile creation of all time. In this episode of Power Rangers Zeo it is shown that not only do Tommy and Kat get married and have kids in the future, but that their son bcomes a Ranger as well. We see a eldery Tommy and Kat in a small home as well as their son and grandson. As I sit here writing this in te dark while listening to sad Sade music and doing crystal meth and with High School Musical 2 playing on the tv in the background, I try to find the proper words to convey to you all how this ep makes me feel. I don't give a #$%^$ $%^% about this episode. As far as I am concered it doesn't #$%^%$%^&* exist. I would rather bend over and take a %^%$^$ where the sun don't shine than watch this #%&$^$ ep. Tommy and Kim rekindle their love in the future and this ep can go find a mule and @$%#%$ with Terra's lawnmower and then open its mouth for a bucket of #%^$#%# from Caty's next door neighbors dogs. After that Kim will grab a shovel of #%&$^$, tie the ep to a tree and %$^$^&&%% until every single US soldier gets back from Iraq!!!

Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie :March 28 1997

Utterly forgettable crap that's as exciting as watching Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles describe a sunrise, and made with a budget that could probably pay for a oil change, this movie was worse than the first bad PR movie, only without any of its charm. Describing it in detail would require a crack pipe and some of Terra's "Saturday Night Suprise Drink" which is known to put hair on your chest:) Jason and Kim are back, seemingly boating late at night for no reason at all and get kidnapped by a intergalactic Bridezilla in Divatox. We are treated to some of the worse special effects since Howard the Duck and a screenplay obviously written by wild, hungry monkeys. And while seeing Tommy see Kim for the very first time, visibly shaken, and then swimming like a mad man to try and find them in the ocean makes your TK heart flutter, the ending garbage with zero payoff for the letter or convo between TK makes you feel as if you've just had sex with that midget from the Austin Powers movies. When in the first movie we were treated to a CGI zord fight that looked good for its time, we now have men in bulky outfits ala the TV show on a set my deceased grandma could have made in her backyard out of parts from her defeated 1986 Ford Escort and a garden hose. Rocky hurt his back cause... well, he needed something to do I guess. There is a great extended shot of Kim's ass at one point that was a personal high point for me, but otherwise I was praying for the credits to roll before my eyes did any further in the back of my head. This cheaply made garbage was an insult to my intelligence, and a terrble way to treat PR fans as it offered no payoff whatsoever for lingering storylines like TK's romance, what is Json doing, what are the other Rangers doing, did anyone ever tell the Cambells to get Aisha's picture off the back of those milk cartons cause she is in Africa treating animals for some disease. Okay, I have ranted enough, but Jesus H Christ this fic sucked like a two dollar ho or the head cheerleader on prom night. The end.

208: SHIFT INTO TURBO PT 3 (4/30/97)

The Rangers all graduate from High School as Divatox returns.

224: PASSING THE TORCH PT 2 (9/11/97)

Tommy, Tanya, Kat and Adam pass the torch to Carlos, Cassie, TK, and Ashley. Thus ends the original twleve rangers first run.

Quick notes.

Today's date is 3/16/2008 - 5/13/1996 means that TK broke up canon-wise 11 years and two months ago.

I didn't mention Justin cause he just wasn't needed.... ever!

The Rangers in Present-day should all be between 28 and 30 years old, with Billy being at least thirty.

We know TK saw each other on March 28, 1997 - that was 11 years and 3 months ago. The entire time period is pretty open for almost anything a writer might be inspired to create, es[cially since DT only lasted about a year.

Since Shawn's got up through Turbo covered, I'm going to handle the one tiny mention in Wild Force, DT SPD and Overdrive for all of you.....figured since this is a TK and SS board, we'd stick to meaningful things for them....so here we go

Wild Force -

Forever Red (10/5/02)
This is the first time since the Turbo movie that we see Jason and Tommy come back (and team up with Aurico, TJ, Andros, Leo, Carter, Wes, Eric and Cole). It's also the Anniversary episode - Celebrating 10 year of PR and marking the final season of Haim Saban having control of Power Rangers(winces at the mixture of loud cheering and boos...if we only knew what Disney had in store for us *sighs*). And everyone bitched and complained cause we got no Rocky......he must have been off chasing Aisha all over Africa. Not to mention, where the hell were all the girls, cause you know the Ranger women would have been whooping their asses if they'd known what the damn boys were doing...especially Kim! And what the hell was up with them being able to be unmorphed and breathing normally on the damn MOON of all places! WTF!

Dino Thunder -
Day Of The Dino, Pt 1 & 2 - (2/14/04) - Tommy Oliver's back, and this time, he's teaching High school science. He's also turning three high school seniors into Rangers....yeah, never saw that coming, did we?

Legacy Of Power (2/28/04) - Tommy's captured and the teens are left to slog through a video diary of Power Rangers history....and we all figured Tommy would be the smart one, the least likely to put ALL THAT INFORMATION ON TAPE. Apparently we were wrong.

Back In Black (3/6/04) - He does it again - First Green, Then White, Then Red times two (though most of us would like to forget he was Red at all) but he does it for a fourth time here - Tommy goes Black Ranger and joins the DT team as more than mentor.....we never saw that coming, did we?

White Thunder Pt 1, 2 and 3 (4/17/04, 4/24/04, 5/1/04) - Another evil Ranger bit, only this time it's Tommy on the receiving end, trying to help Conner, Kira and Ethan free Trent. This is also where Tommy gets fossilized in amber....talk about a double whammy for the good doctor's self esteem.

Fighting Spirit (8/28/04) - While trying to get free from being invisible, Tommy's dino gem breaks and he finds himself in a coma, fighting three of his former selves - Green and White Morphin, and Red Zeo. It was a killer episode that could have had a hell of alot more potential to delve into Tommy's psyche.

Thunder Storm Pt 1 and 2 (10/2/04 and 10/9/04) - This time we get to see Tommy and his team team up with the Ninja Storm team. Episode was cool because we got to see him acting all mature and what not and showing the youngins how to kick some ass

In Your Dreams (10/16/04) - The episode where it would have been perfect to have AJJ come back as Kim and Tommy's dreams be really cool, instead we all got a stupid monster fight.....*shakes her head*

Thunder Struck 1 and 2 (11/13/04 and 11/20/04) - The end of DT, and we hear Tommy saying he wants to live the quiet life. And we all imagined him going home after the prom and calling his beautiful up.

SPD -
Beginnings Pt 1 and 2 (2/5/05) - First time we get to see the SPD Rangers. Supposedly takes place in 2025 or 2030 though the fact is debated highly throughout the season and never completely resolved.

Walls (2/19/05) - The first time we see Sky start opening up, and it's all because of Syd. This is generally considered the episode that started the craze that is SydSky

Sam Pt 2 (3/19/05) - The hug saw round the world. At the end when everyone's teasing Syd about being old and weird, Sky leans over and hugs her.

Idol (4/2/05) - Sky learns a lesson in friendship, and who he can truly count on when his best friend essentially turns on him.

Stakeout (4/9/05) - Syd's birthday. The episode lasts approximately 2-3 days timeline wise.

Recognition (6/4/05) - Wootox takes over Sky's body, and Sky learns a lesson in humility from this one. Generally recognized as a turning point for him.

Reflection Pt 1 and 2 (8/12/05) - Sky's father's murderer is set free by none other than Sky himself. We see several SS moments including the bantering in the park with the others, Sky saving Syd from Mirloc, and Syd standing up for him and his father's memory.

Endings Pt. 2 (11/14/05) - Last episode of SPD. This is where we learn that Sky becomes Red after Jack leaves, and he admits he'd follow ANYONE, even Syd, if Cruger were to make her Red Ranger.

Operation Overdrive -

Once A Ranger Pt 1 and 2 (7/23/07) - Five former Rangers return and show up Overdrive's rangers - Adam, Tori, Kira, Bridge and Xander. Now, I put this in here cause, A - it's Adam, and he kicked a lot of ass, B - Kira and Adam talk about Tommy and it sounded as if Tommy hadn't kept his former teammates and friends up to date about his doctorate or his Ranger activities, and C - Bridge's speech. Who could forget Bridge's speech, especially when we learn that Bridge is now Red Ranger and Sky has officially become Commander of Earth....our boy is moving up in the world *winks* Maybe he needed more closet space for all of Syd's clothes in their quarters...

Side note! In Endings, Z mentions to Sam about seeing him in 20 years (since Omega was from the future).....so in turn, in Sam Pt 1 when Boom says he gets a message from I believe it's 2035 or 2040 it sorta fucks the time line up massively.....we're never sure what year it is in SPD, but generally everyone goes by 2025 since SPD in our time aired in 2005

Ok..I realize that this has really nothing to do with SS or TK but I feel a need to mention it. Possibly because it is nearly 2 am and I am sleep deprived and probably still slightly shall we say...partied out from my weekend at the beach. But this episode also showcases the amazingness of Richard Brancatisano's hair. Sorry...can't ignore it. Xander's hair looked amazing in addition to all the ass kicking done by Adam and the mentionage of Tommy and Sky.
