Also, I know some of you are students...but what/if you work does everyone do for a living?
Senior Phone Tech - I install and repair phone systems in business's... also I do work on their network as well.
Okay so thats alot of random thoughts...sorry I am bored and I cant make graphics here. *pout*

Terra, you're not that old hon! Neither are you, Cat. Look at it this way: it can always be worse and you can always be a LOT older than you are now!
I book disney dining reservations from home, so I can wear fuzzy pajamies and no one says anything because I work for myself! I love it on most days, except for when the people drive me absolutely NUTS!
But yes terra, in response to your question, I do hate work sometimes! Some people just aren't the brightest crayons in the box, and.........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! And being stuck on hold...I hate that with a passion, Kim can verify that!

Some people just aren't the brightest crayons in the box, and.........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! True that and it seems that I somehow attract said dull crayons... I had a school work term at an IT office of a large supermarket chain (I will not name in case my former employers are lurking )... Don't get me wrong my co-workers were the coolest people ever! But let me tell you, I *never* want to be a Quality Assurance tester full time... Pushing buttons gets old... Fast...

Me, I'm a full time student studying for my Bachelor Of Information Technology and Securities, I have my Web Design associates, and I work as a Cashier/Office Aide/Web Designer......wow, what a mouthful!
Oh, and I stalk Jason David Frank and Chris Violette in my spare time *wicked grin*

Yeah, I'd like to know what this thing you called "spare time" is... I vaguely remember an inkling of what that is, somewhere in the remote and dark place of my brain...

Can't say as I blame you there. Sounds like that would be enough to drive anyone bonkers. And all you did was push buttons all day?

Yeah, pretty much... We had cookie cutter test cases and we executed the same batch everytime new code came in... And unfortunately, everytime the vendor fixed something, they broke a million other things...

*eyes widen* And you didn't go crazy or go off on anyone because they kept breaking things how?!?! You must have the patience of a saint if you were able to not go nuts on people that kept breaking other things. oy.....that would have driven me crazy.

Yeah, I'm impressed I didn't throw a server out the window of our high rise... Although, them servers cost like five grand a pop... *shudder* But it's frustrating when you're trying to debug someone else's code who lives in California and works for a different company... But it was a good learning experience about the world of big corporation... On the plus side, we got to have long lunch breaks with company executives who came to visit and they were free Kim, I like your strategy on lounging... I think that's what I'm going to do too On a random note, I had a dream about SPD ;D

An SPD dream, huh? Is it one you can share with the class? *smirk* LOL

*cracks up* If it's anywhere near like MY dreams, then it's not fit for anyone under the age of 17....*evil grin* And tossing servers out the window is not conducive to keeping your job...and yes, they are expensive!

Haha, Kim! I don't mind sharing, my dream was PG Basically, Blake Lewis (he was second runner up on last season of American Idol) was performing at SPD and he had dancers and he screwed up his lines and then confessed that he really wanted to find a wife... I know really random and weird... But Sky did give me a kiss on the cheek... ;D I don't mind having that dream again

HAHAHAHA. That would be awesome if we could all get together for a weekend and just hang. We'd have ourselves a riot! lol. Kim, Meg, and I talk about how much fun we'd have if we ever did manage to get together and hang, so I'm in! I think it'd be awesome!
And Kim's right about the whole dream bit. Most of her dreams are NOT suitable for those persons that are under the age of 17. They're very nice dreams though....

ROAD TRIP!!!!! ;D Errrr, sorry, I had too much sugar And Terra, I hear you on taking a break from life... Ugh, the one thing I really dislike about university (besides the finals, assignments due at midnight, labs, etc... ;D) is BUYING TEXTBOOKS!!!!! Holy crap, I need sell an arm, a leg and my left kidney on the black market to afford some of them overpriced paperweights!

Rach, you read my mind hon! lol. That'd definitely be interesting to see all of us go on a road trip and go see some really cool stuff! Not sure if we'd all manage to keep our sanity though...*grins*
And about the university bit, I get what you mean! I'm just extremely grateful that I have financial aid that i can use to buy my books with or I would be selling an arm and a leg to afford them. I am so not looking forward to this coming week! Final exams and thank god one of them I can just email in and don't have to show up! I just hope that I pass both classes because if not, then I'll have to take them over. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Thanks! I'm gonna need it. It's like Kim said, if I don't pass, I don't pass. There's nothing that I can do but hope for the best. *smiles*
I do sorta have a general question but I didn't want to start another thread. What program(s) do you all use to make the icons, banners, etc.?

|
|
Post by ~*Cathy*~ on Apr 20, 2008 15:56:39 GMT -5
Terra and I both use Adobe Photoshop 7 to do our graphics. Best.program.ever! IMO LOL
We both started out on Ulead's PhotoImpact though, and it's a good starting program which is fairly cheap. It's easy to use, and there's tutorials to help you learn stuff....

Okay. I have good news and bad news. The god news is that I DO have Adobe Photoshop 7 on my computer. The bad news? Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to use it at all. Which I'm sure is making you go "So why the hell did you put it on your computer?" lol. My brother had it, so he let me put it on my computer and I knew that one day, I'd want to make banners and whatnot. I'd love to get Ulead, but cash flow is VERY small right now, seeing as how I'm saving money to get a car.

There are tutorials out there for Photoshop, but the best piece of advice I can give you is to just play around with it.
I use Paint Shop Pro 7 and now Photoshop Elements 2.0....but I'm thinking about getting Elements 4.0 when I get my relief check....it's only 109.00 at best buy right now!

I ditto Kim! The best way to learn the software is to just fiddle around with all the different buttons and filters... Don't be too hard on yourself when you make your first few... I was and it just got me extremely frustrated... Take you time and make lots of different things and you'll eventually get the hang of it ;D But my best advice is, find as many fonts and brushes as you can possibly get your hands on Hehehe... God, I love Photoshop

Thanks for the advice! Can I come to you for pointers if I need them, if that's okay? I want to be able to make banners and icons too. *grins* What is it that you love about Photoshop and how did you learn to use it? Trial and error or actually being taught?
