Might not be around for a while

I just wanted to let everyone know, I might not be on as much in the coming weeks. We just found out that my grandma, who has been in and out of the hospital the last couple of months, has a brain tumor. I don't know what's happening right now, I don't know what's going to happen, and I just wanted to let everyone know if I disappear for a while, don't worry.

Shawn, Angel, Megan and Rapunzl will probably keep you updated if I disappear for too long, as I talk to them almost daily. Thanks in advance for the support.

Thank you, everyone. I talked to my mother about a half hour ago. The decision right now is that since my aunt can't care for her and keep working, they're going to try and get grandma into hospice until she's stronger. The hospice nurse came out to the house, gave her something for the pain, she's resting, and has kept food down. The more food she keeps down, the stronger she's going to get and the stronger she gets, the better she'll be able to fight this tumor. The doctors are still giving her stuff for her ulcer, which seems to be helping too. They're going to evaluate whether or not grandma's a candidate for hospice and if she is, they're going to place her there. If not, I don't know what they're gonna do.

I was going to wait and let Angel give you guys a run down of what's up, but since I'm looking up stuff for my 10 page college paper that's due in 2 1/2 weeks, i figured I'd pop over really quick.

Things are not so good. Grandma's body is slowly shutting down and right now it's just a waiting game. My uncle has driven in from Nebraska, and we figured once he got here she'd finally let go (she's been holding on by a thread since I got here Sunday evening) but as of right now, she's still holding on. Unfortunately, we'll be placing her in hospice tomorrow, so that she has a few days to get settled before my aunt has to go back to work. My grandma is pretty stubborn (yes Ang, that's exactly where I get it from ) and I have a feeling she's not going to let go with her kids and grandkids surrounding her (which is what we've been doing for the last two weeks).

I'm holding up pretty good, had a scare this morning when I was trying to lift her cause my mom and aunt can't and she cried out (she can't talk anymore, but lately has been making crying noises). I sorta lost it and bawled my eyes out for about ten minutes, but as my aunt pointed out, I probably didn't really hurt her, it was more she was making her displeasure at being moved known to the world since she can't talk now.

I apologize if this freaks anyone out, not everyone has experience being around someone who's dying and I needed a small way to vent, and still feel like i'm connected to the outside world and my friends. I'll try and keep everyone update some more before I go home Saturday (thank God my boss was generous and gave me the week off)

I'm sorry to hear she's getting worse, hun. Your family is and will remain in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong, and know that your friends are here for you, even if we're not around as much as we used to be. :/

I just wanted to pop in an let everyone know I'm back home now. Unfortunately, grandma passed away Thanksgiving afternoon. It's been a long, hard week, but at least she isn't suffering anymore and all of us got a chance to say goodbye despite her being comatose since Sunday.

I appreciate the support, the well wishes and the prayers. Things are gonna be a little rough until I get back to some semblence of normal, but I will eventually get there.

thanks gang. Like Shawn told me earlier this week, my mom's always been my rock, this time it was my turn to return the favor. I'm sad, I'm going to miss her, but i'm not like super upset, crying all the time....guess the maturity's kicked in and though the child in me mourns such a large part of my life, the adult in me is thankful that she's no longer in pain.
